The ‘Near Normal Vision’
According to the ‘experts’ we are now nearing the ‘near normal’ phase of the Pandemic – whatever that is?
Does it mean we will return to consultation with the community BEFORE introducing schemes which will affect their lives – such as location of cycle lanes, the blocking off of parts of streets and encouraging people to sit out in the roadway, – some of which have led to the loss of on street parking and important loading bays?
However, it would be great to see all our retail shops, trade suppliers, restaurants, public houses, wonderful museums, and galleries open again – and that the many volunteer workers will also return to help support us.
Very Normal
Early February is usually the time for the Spring Fair but of course due to the pandemic the ‘live’ Fair was cancelled. No-one told the weather and for what would have been the main days of the show we had bitterly cold weather and snow, showing some things are the ‘Old Norm’!
Snowdrops & Snowflakes
How lovely to see snowdrops being planted in the cemeteries – most readers will remember our unsuccessful attempt to get the Crimean Memorial Gardens at Sandpits tidied and our story of how snowdrops first came to the UK. – would love some snowdrops planted there and the memorial plaque replaced – former one was stolen.
Good News
The birds of prey which were nesting in the PO Tower now have become a ‘family’ and are busy ridding the area of the gulls which have been such a nuisance over the past few years.
