Event Details

The Birmingham Easel Club was originally formed in 1879 by professional artist Edmund Watson, whose sketches for the Graphic Illustrations of Warwickshire are now stored in the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery. Walter Langley, who established the Newlyn Art Colony, was also a founder member.

The Easel Club currently has 18 members, whose work is created using a range of techniques, including painting, drawing, collage, printmaking, and sculpture.
The group continues to meet monthly, during which they appraise each other’s work to encourage quality, consistency, and artistic development within the group.

The artistic merit of past members of the Easel Club is an inspiration to its contemporary members, and they aspire to uphold the high standards of the club’s illustrious and well-respected past members.

Exhibition closes: Saturday 5 April 5pm
