Key Hill cemetery formally known as the General Cemetery and known as the hidden gem is a non-denominational burial ground & the resting place of:-

Joseph Chamberlain 3 times mayor, Alfred Bird – chemist & inventor of eggless custard , Thomas Avery founder of Avery weighing machines, William Murphy- Murphy Riots , Rev George Dawson, John Skirrow Wright , Joseph Tangye inventor , Marie Bethel Beauclerc First female reporter- shorthand, Constance Naden ,Poet &philosopher. Harriet Martineau, Henry Palethorpe – Sausages & pork pies, Joseph Gillott Pens ( Birmingham taught the world to write with is vast pen production) , Robert Lucas Chance Glass- Crystal Palace , William Butler -M & B Brewery, Thomas Walker , Isaac Horton, James Hinks. John Henderson, who built London’s Crystal Palace and the roof of the old New Street Station. Tolkien family ( JRR Tolkien used to visit Key Hill cemetery ) . The Martineau family. Cemetery tours do not include interior viewing of the catacombs, these are separate events held 4 times a year.

Key Hill cemetery has black railings , neigbouring Warstone Lane cemetery has red railings.

This cemetery has black railing and is situated on Ickneild Street almost facing Park Road South.

Neighbouring Warstone Lane cemetery ( red railings) also has one of its entrances on Ickneild Street.
