Springtime Evening Tour: Thursday, 22 May
Join us for a special springtime evening tour covering both Warstone Lane Cemetery and Key Hill Cemetery. This exclusive tour, scheduled for Thursday, 22 May, runs from 5:30 pm to 7:15 pm. Unlike our regular Sunday tours, this event includes insights into both cemeteries in a single comprehensive walk.
The tour will feature the gravesites of Birmingham’s rich and famous, as well as the world’s smallest and youngest performer. Please note that the latter is a unique addition to the spring evening tour and is not included in the tours held on the second Sunday of each month.
Warstone Lane Cemetery
Warstone Lane Cemetery, located in Birmingham’s vibrant Jewellery Quarter, is a site steeped in history. Established in 1847, the cemetery is known for its distinctive catacombs and impressive collection of Victorian and Edwardian memorials. Among its notable interments are prominent figures from Birmingham’s industrial past, capturing the essence of the city’s rich heritage.
Key Hill Cemetery
Key Hill Cemetery, founded in 1836, is Birmingham’s oldest non-denominational cemetery. It is the final resting place of many influential personalities, including political reformers, industrialists, and artists. The cemetery’s picturesque setting and historic gravestones offer a tranquil environment for reflection and remembrance.
