New Site for The Hockley Flyer

The Hockley Flyer has a new website which features a similar design but uses an all new magazine theme for 2017 and has also been moved to a new package with up to 9gb ram and a database now utilising a SSD (solid state drive)

“The old website was getting slower and slower and when I checked we have used up most of the quota for number of files stored, but also the web site was over the limit of the database.

It had to be moved to a new database so we took the plunge and moved everything to a slightly different domain as well – thehockleyflyer.co.uk but we are still using thehockleyflyer.info as it points to the new site.”

A lot of work but worth it in the end, as the new site loads much faster, and has a much cleaner, easier to read design, a fancy menu but more importantly is more tablet and mobile friendly.

The Hockley Flyer magazine if entirely funded by the advertising, but we could always do with a little bit more funding. The advertising not only pays for the design/printing, but also postage, delivery, all the associated paperwork/accounts, and research for the Heritage section. Our subscribers pay only a bit more then the postage/mailing costs, and the magazines are free - no cover price.
