After a few months where the magazine has been quiet, this month sees lots of new adverts, a few new advertisers and plenty of news for the jewellery industry, and even more expected in the coming months. All most welcome!
A visit to The Hockley Flyer web site is a must, the events section is expanding all the time, and as of the time of writing this editorial there are around 150 events listed.
I remember when the magazine started there may have been one event a week, many of the bars and the few restaurants closed around 8.00pm Mondays to Thursdays, with most of the trade taking place lunchtimes.
The Jewellery Quarter has seen a vast number of trades, the rather stranger ones being manufacturers of wooden teeth and artificial wooden limbs years ago, lots of bicycle manufacturers etc.
This issue sees a bit of that diversity with the extra news page with news on the rubbish collection strike being declared a major incident and on the same page news about Ray Bubbles, International Bubbleologist and Guinness World Record Holder who uses various different gases to craft stunning bubble sculptures, effects, and magical displays – coming to the Blue Orange Theatre!
