Last month’s editorial and a feature was on engine idling and Birmingham’s clean air zone, well also last month as I was putting the magazine out, I don’t know if people in parked cars got the message – none of them had their engines running. One car in the JQ may not add much to the pollution but I was coming across at least one car in every street.
Keep it up – lets help the Birmingham City Council reach their targets enforced on them on clean air zones and at the same time make the JQ more pleasant for those that have to walk around the area.
This issue sees a really mixed bag of news and features from the addition of a silver sugar bowl to the stunning silver collection of John Hardman & Co in the Birmingham Museums Trust collection, to the £12 million development on the Charles Green manufacturing site when they scaled down their premises size to meet current manufacturing requirements.
Also, a story on Benjamin Zephaniah where Birmingham honoured the life and legacy of trailblazing poet where his City of Birmingham Medal was formally presented. Benjamin is the inaugural recipient of the medal, which is Birmingham’s third civic award and has been designed by students at BCU’s renowned School of Jewellery.
Plus, more of course… read on…
