After thinking the May/June issue of The Hockley Flyer earlier this year would be a one off in recent years, here we are again with another combined issue.
Whilst trying to work out how to get the next 3 issues out before Christmas, which is approaching at an alarming rate, and after the August issue was published later than required, catching up was not going to be easy, and producing what surmounts to 3 issues with 3 week gaps would not be possible unless the amount of news coming in increased dramatically.
I was going to do just that, but as the days passed to see if there was an upturn in news items the situation did not change so not the preferred choice, but another combined issue was decided.
Just in case you feel you have missed out – there was only one news item not published and that was about a forthcoming (at the time) event just after the 15th September and for that article to be relevant the magazine would have needed to be early, meaning a 2 week gap after the August issue was distributed – was never going to happen!
Anyway I am hoping to digitise many of the historical items over the winter so that next year there will be a stock of Heritage features ready for publishing, (or re-published from years ago) to fall back on as well as making it a regular feature, something that has been sadly missing for a while.
Speaking about heritage news, does anyone know of the people behind Hassett and Harper Craftsmen in Silver and Metals, or even Bill Jehan as there is an excellent online item that would be a great heritage story for The Hockley Flyer but cannot seem to find any contact info?
