Followed up by a visit to our Silver Collection which is our historic collection of spectacular objects created by some of Birmingham’s most celebrated Silversmiths including Matthew Boulton, Nathaniel Mills and Elkington & Co.
You will also be given behind the scenes access to see how our incredible team hallmark today using both traditional and modern practices, and have the opportunity to try hallmarking for yourself.

There will be one single tunnel open in the catacombs and no human remains or coffins will be seen.
If you have booked for both Warstone Lane interior tunnel tour and neigbouring Key Hill interior catacomb chambers tour, ensure that you allow time for booking in at the stall the stall, collection of admittance badge, duration of the tour, plus the walk from one cemetery to the other. Wise to leave an hour clear in between tours.

Come to the Coffin Works Museum for extra spooky, spooktacular Halloween fun! With free entry for children in costume (must be accompanied by a paying adult) we have a day packed with Fang-tastic Fun Activities!
Where better to spend Halloween than Birmingham’s Coffin Works Museum! This old Victorian factory packed with coffin fittings, and a few coffins, will be all decked out to celebrate the spooky season in style. Enjoy self-guided entry to the museum and learn all about it’s unique history with demonstrations with working Victorian machinery!
We have an extra-special Halloween Activities running on Saturday 28th, 12pm – 3pm. Look out for our resident witch, Seraphina, who will be showing willing children (and adults!) how to brew a special potion! Perhaps you would like to fly, or turn someone into a frog? Well, this is the sorcery class for you. Watch lotions and potions change colour and magically shimmer right in front of your eyes!
Our courtyard will be decked out with pumpkins-a-plenty, and even a coffin to give your Instagram photos and extra creepy bit of character!
Ever dreamt of being a ghost buster? Cheeky ghoul’s have taken over the factory and our ghost-busting visitors are needed to hunt them down for us. You will save our factory from this Halloween haunting and restore order for all, well for this year at least.
So, plenty to keep the whole family entertained!
With lots of fun photo opportunities to get yourself in the mood for some trick or treating.
All these activities are included in the normal entry price of the museum.

Join us in the Gallery for a talk and artist’s demonstration from Andrew Barrowman ARBSA.
Andrew works with willow charcoal and a variety of erasers to create his atmospheric charcoal landscape drawings. He will demonstrate how he constructs a drawing with willow charcoal, beginning with energetic abstract tonal shapes that are erased and added to, in a continuing ‘push / pull’ way of working, gradually refining the image subtly by erasing and adding more charcoal. Andrew will be using willow charcoal, putty erasers, hard erasers on Fabriano Acadelie paper.

Cemetery tours do not include interior viewing of the catacombs that are closed until spring 2025.

Harriet Martineau, Henry Palethorpe – Sausages & pork pies, Joseph Gillott Pens ( Birmingham taught the world to write with is vast pen production) , Robert Lucas Chance Glass- Crystal Palace , William Butler -M & B Brewery, Thomas Walker , Isaac Horton, James Hinks.
