The Music Of Joan Baez – Sarah Yeo
One of the UK’s high rising songwriters Sarah Yeo, performs material in her own “beautiful voice” (BBC) from Joan’s early career from the first recording, ‘Harvard Square’ and onward through her lengthy journey to date, telling pivotal stories and singing key songs from the Newport Festival days, her years in Nashville, activism around the world, her relationship both on and off the stage with Bob Dylan, and her love of recording just great songs.
The set list takes note of the current political climate and includes self penned songs ‘Diamonds and Rust’, ‘The Winds of the Old Days’, Dylan greats such as ‘Love Is Just A Four Letter Word’, ‘There But For Fortune’, ‘Farewell Angelina’ and the wonderful catalogue from songwriters Stevie Wonder, Phil Ochs, Janis Ian and not forgetting the early Folk covers, ‘The Banks of the Ohio’, ‘House of the Rising Sun’ and many more hits.
Sarah, a recent finalist in the ‘International songwriting competition’, also delves into the Spanish language repertoire Joan loved so much.
Sarah’s ‘warm rich voice’ with sweet higher notes, lends itself perfectly for this special evening of songs and stories.
As Sarah learns more about Miss Baez’s life and career, she feels she can relate to her in many ways, making the project a very personal, interesting and inspiring experience.

Under the Tree presents – The Careless Carless Case
As Part of Birmingham Fest
Jam jars, daydreams, and a dash of deception! In 1886 Wolverhampton, young Agnes Carless falls headfirst into mischief when a mysterious lodger arrives. Inspired by a real Victorian scandal uncovered through genealogical research, this charming comedy proves that even the quietest lives can stir up the most unexpected adventures.
At the heart of this true 1886 tale is Agnes Bertha Carless, a spirited 17-year-old maid with a vivid imagination and a thirst for more than her working-class life in Wolverhampton can offer. When Arthur Fegan, a smooth-talking lodger with secrets of his own, arrives at the Carless home, Agnes is swept into a whirlwind of flattery, fantasy, and forbidden romance. But things quickly spiral as Fegan’s intentions turn darker, testing the strength of a family already struggling to stay afloat. What follows is a gripping yet comedic unravelling of trust, class expectations, and naive ambition, culminating in a scandal that made national headlines.

Zander Gibney presents – The Poet of Lufatia
As Part of Birmingham Fest
The Poet of Lufatia is the debut play of American writer, actor, and director Zander Gibney. Zander recently graduated from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire’s Master of Fine Arts–Acting program. Now based in Birmingham, Zander is thrilled to be bringing this passion project to Birmingham Fest with a cast of talented, locally based actors.
Inspired by Shakespeare’s comedies and Noël Coward’s style, The Poet of Lufatia is a farce of convoluted communication about the amount people will say to not have to say anything at all.
Legend says the Princess of Lufatia can only be wooed by a man who writes 1,000 letters––the “Poet of Lufatia.” Now that the King has called for this legend to be fulfilled, a self-righteous poet named Michael aims to claim the title of Poet and the princess as his own. Unfortunately, to reach his goal Michael must contend with a naïve courier, a pair of conniving sisters, clothes-swapping twin brothers, his sister’s impending marriage, a mail fraud plot that could bring down the entire kingdom, and––worst of all––rampant miscommunication.
Will anyone be married? Will Lufatia be saved from mail fraud? And will anyone genuinely speak from their heart? Find out in The Poet of Lufatia: A new comedy about old letters.
Dates and time of show: Wednesday 22nd July – 7.30pm, Thursday 23rd July – 7.30pm

Embedded Theatre presents – Boundless
As Part of Birmingham Fest
“We thought the cave was safe. That’s what we told each other when we saw the mouth of it yawning open in the cliffside. Somewhere we could be free to be ourselves”
It’s 2052, and five people have found their way to a refuge hidden in the rocks, each with their own reason for fleeing the oppression of the city. Their rural communal life seems idyllic, until one day Ezekiel suddenly disappears, shattering the trust that has bound them and testing how much of what they tried to escape they have really left behind.
Boundless is a dynamic piece of devised theatre reflecting on the fragility of freedom, by a new generation of makers.

This tour gets under the skin of the city. We follow the ‘secret canal’ to the Jewellery Quarter and see how a Georgian country estate grew into one of the world’s most inventive industrial environments.
We’ll explore everything from artisan jewellers to vast 19th-century factories that supplied the globe. But this isn’t just a history walk—we’ll also see the roles the Quarter plays in today’s city, and where Birmingham is heading next.
The tour mixes hidden corners, big questions and surprising stories. Your guide, local author and photographer Jonathan Berg, brings it all to life. At the end, you’ll receive a copy of Invention & Design: Elkington of Birmingham—a beautifully illustrated book that uncovers the mindset of Victorian entrepreneurs who helped shape our modern city.
A relaxed and thought-provoking way to spend a Sunday afternoon—with fresh air, good company and a new view of Birmingham.

Bottomless drinks. Dancefloor chaos. Zero shame.Free entry, with brunch tickets available for those who like their nostalgia served with unlimited prosecco.
This is a daytime party for people who still love a night out… just a bit earlier.
Saturday 29th August 1PM – 7PM (day party supremacy)
- Expect wall-to-wall 90s & 00s bangers
- Dance like it’s a Year 6 disco but with better drinks.
- FREE ENTRY (yes, actually free)
- Bottomless Brunch tickets £32 per person (£10 deposit per person) – because unlimited drinks deserve commitment.
Come for a bop, stay for as long as you’re able to make regrettable choices and leave questioning your step count and your voice.
Low-rise jeans optional. Good vibes mandatory.
