The National Association of Jewellers (NAJ) has announced the latest additions to its NAJ Endorsed programme, further strengthening access to trusted, high‑quality education across the jewellery and allied trades.
The newly endorsed courses include GemIntro from the Gemmological Association of Great Britain (Gem‑A) and SilverHub’s One‑Year Foundation Course in Silversmithing, which reflect the programme’s commitment to recognising learning opportunities that deliver industry‑relevant knowledge, practical skills, and clear progression routes.
Supporting trusted learning across the trade
NAJ Endorsed formally recognises education providers whose courses meet the Association’s standards through a comprehensive review of content, learning outcomes and delivery. Endorsed courses may display the NAJ Endorsed logo and are listed on the NAJ website, helping learners and employers identify training that is credible, relevant, and aligned with professional best practice.
GemIntro: Discover the World of Gemstones
GemIntro is an online introductory gemmology course developed by Gem‑A, designed for aspiring jewellery professionals, gem enthusiasts and anyone curious about gemstones. Delivered through 11 lessons and more than 30 videos, the course provides a solid foundation in gemmology and leads to an Ofqual Level 2 Award.
Learners gain the confidence to buy and work with gemstones, understand gem identification, and key characteristics, explore the wider jewellery industry from retail to mining, and develop awareness of responsible sourcing and sustainability. No prior experience is required, and the flexible online format allows learners to study at their own pace.

SilverHub: One‑Year Foundation Course in Silversmithing
Based in Edinburgh, SilverHub’s One‑Year Foundation Course in Silversmithing supports students from all backgrounds to develop strong technical and creative foundations in contemporary jewellery design and making.
Delivered across five termly blocks, the programme combines weekly studio‑based teaching with self‑guided study. Small class sizes and one‑to‑one tuition are central to the SilverHub ethos, ensuring tailored guidance in a supportive learning environment.
The course is enhanced by visiting lectures from leading figures in contemporary art jewellery and a cultural visit to Munich Jewellery Week, offering insight into international practice. Graduates complete the programme with a portfolio of work, a collection of handmade pieces, Qualifications Scotland units and a certificate of achievement, alongside a final student exhibition and clear progression routes into further study or professional practice.
