The British Academy of Jewellery is pleased to announce the launch of the latest series of its enriching online Masterclasses, available to BAJ students.
Conceived to complement the world-class jewellery education offered by BAJ, the sessions are open to all BAJ students for free. Masterclasses will be delivered via Zoom and will address a wide variety of topics, ranging from live demonstrations to lectures and professional advice sessions fostering essential business skills.

Each Masterclass will be led by an industry expert, who will share their invaluable knowhow with BAJ students, allowing them to explore new horizons and diversify their skillset and experiences.

BAJ’s Masterclasses speakers are all at high levels in their field and include Liz Oliver from bespoke jewellery brand Vashi, Kimjoux founder Trang Do, British Vogue’s Carol Woolton, and world-renowned jewellery designers Theo Fennell and Bobby White.

“Our Masterclasses are a wonderful way for BAJ students to become more well-rounded jewellers by learning new skills from top industry professionals,” said Kate Rieppel, Head of Academy at BAJ. “In 2021, talks and workshops will be given by a diverse range of speakers, who will encourage our students to explore different aspects of our multi-faceted and fast-changing industry.”
The 2021 Masterclasses programme kicked off with a jewellery photography class led by GEM Kreatives co-founder Julia Flit, who shared her tips on lighting, composition and editing with BAJ students. Flit is a London-based jewellery and fashion photographer whose recent shoots include advertising campaigns for Garrard and Silvia Furmanovich, and jewellery editorials for Vogue and Bergdorf Goodman.

The next Masterclass will be led by Trang Do, who will discuss the different career paths open to students when getting started in the jewellery industry and offer valuable advice for starting a business. And in February, students can look forward to a conversation with Carol Woolton and Theo Fennell, who will jointly lead a session focused on tips for building a unique brand, presented from a PR perspective.

BAJ’s Masterclasses run from January 2021 onwards.
