Betts Metal Sales Mad Hatter’s Tea Party

On the 27th September a number of businesses within the Jewellery Quarter will be involved in raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support by participating in ‘The world’s biggest coffee morning’. The event has been arranged by Macmillan Cancer Support who are urging people within Birmingham and the Black Country to help raise funds exceeding £500K.

Betts Metal Sales on Spencer Street, Hockley will be holding a Mad Hatter’s Tea Party on their premises Friday 27th September. All staff will be participating by dressing up as their chosen character from the story as well as donating money and bringing in cakes to sell.

Betts Metal Sales is a member of the Stephen Betts Group. The original family business, specialising in smelting and refining bullion, was founded in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter at the dawn of the industrial revolution in 1760. Now with its ninth consecutive generation in the business, the Betts family has been directly associated with the recovery of precious metals and the jewellery industry for nearly a quarter of a millennium.

The Hockley Flyer magazine if entirely funded by the advertising, but we could always do with a little bit more funding. The advertising not only pays for the design/printing, but also postage, delivery, all the associated paperwork/accounts, and research for the Heritage section. Our subscribers pay only a bit more then the postage/mailing costs, and the magazines are free - no cover price.
