Daisy Grice collaboration

Award winning jewellery designer-maker, Daisy Grice collaborates with emerging Northumbrian fashion designer Meg Fletcher at the first ever fashion show held at Alnwick Castle, Northumberland. ‘HOMEGROUND’ by Meg Fletcher exhibited 10 looks designed and crafted by Fletcher herself, adorned with Daisy’s sculptural, yet fierce, bone inspired jewellery. Fletcher’s collection pays homage to the mesmerising historical landscape of the North, whilst highlighting the highs and lows in remaining in one’s Homeland.

Since launching her collection in 2019 Daisy has collaborated with stylists, musicians, and models. Amongst other features, one of her recent collaborations saw her ‘Long Fang’ earrings, ‘Trilogy Spine’ and ‘Spine Tooth’ rings worn by rising musician Tiggi Hawke in their ‘Giants’ music video, styled with an exquisite Iris Van Herpen couture gown.

The designers met through Instagram last year, establishing a mutual love and respect for one another’s work, eventually culminating in Meg reaching out to join forces and collaborate on her show, allowing them to fuse their aesthetics, creating some truly breathtaking looks. Naturally, Daisy was excited to seize the opportunity. A lover of the dark and sometimes macabre, she was ecstatic to learn the event was to be held within the walls of Alnwick castle, a place often seen as the most impactful example of medieval architecture within Northumberland’s iconography.

Working to ensure the jewellery elevates as opposed to dominate the ‘Home Ground’ looks, together the pair selected pieces from Daisy’s 18ct yellow gold vermeil and ‘Black Satin’ easy wear collections. An array of striking earrings, pendants and rings that have been designed to be worn seamlessly from day to evening. Committed to going against fast fashion, Daisy designs and crafts every piece in her studio situated in the historic Birmingham Jewellery Quarter. She believes in creating jewellery that stands the test of time – in both design and craftmanship. Inspired by the enchanting world around us, seeking formations often found on walks in nature, such as skeletal structures, antlers and twisted decaying branches combined with a futuristic, otherworldly aesthetic. Daisy designs unique, tactile jewellery pieces to adorn the body and empower the soul.

Following the event on Saturday 17th August 2024 Daisy commented, “It was an honour to collaborate with Meg on her first solo show. From working backstage alongside Meg and her team to sitting front row, seeing my jewellery adorn the models dressed in Meg’s Home Ground collection as they walked inside the courtyard of the state rooms of Alnwick Castle was the most magical experience, and truly one I will treasure for a long time to come. I have been inundated with positive feedback since the event and am looking forward to future opportunities.”

Other collaborators included, Northumbrian artist, Liz Newton, artisan blacksmith father and daughter duo, Stephen Lunn, and Ashlee Donaldson, and ‘The Northumberland Miliner,’ Margaret Woodliff Wright.

Daisy Grice is set to showcase her jewellery collection at both Goldsmiths Fair (week two) and ‘Acquire’ in Harrogate later this year.
