UK Fungus Day: Guided Fungi Foray with Curator Lukas Large.

Celebrate UK Fungus Day with Natural Sciences Curator Lukas Large on a fascinating guided fungi walk through Birmingham’s historic cemeteries.

Starting at 3 pm at Craft & Culture, you’ll join Lukas for a foray through Warstone Lane and Key Hill Cemeteries (approximately 1.5 to 2 hours), exploring the surprising diversity of fungi that thrive in these unique urban green spaces.

After the walk, we’ll return to Craft & Culture for a drink, and take a closer look at the fungi we’ve discovered. Lukas will share insights into the species you’ve found, their ecological importance, and the remarkable ways fungi shape the world around us.

Discover how fungi can flourish in the most unexpected places, even in the heart of Birmingham, and hear fascinating stories about the species that call these historic landscapes home.

Whether you’re a seasoned mushroom enthusiast or simply curious about the hidden wonders of nature, this is a unique opportunity to see the city from a completely different perspective.
