Sarah Carpin, director of specialist jewellery and media agency Facets PR, will host the opening address at the inaugural Flux: Fair Luxury Conference in April. Taking place at the Goldsmiths’ Centre in London, this one-day jewellery conference aims to educate, challenge and inspire responsible practices and transparency in the jewellery industry.
Delegates will hear from industry leaders sharing their experiences and expertise, while discovering how much has been achieved to date in the realms of traceability and ethics in the jewellery trade.
London-based agency Facets PR works with several jewellery clients specialising in Fairtrade precious metals and fully-traceable diamonds and gemstones, and counts Cred Jewellery, Hockley Mint, Alexis Dove, Arctic Circle and Mastercut among these.
Sarah Carpin said: “Facets PR strongly supports and promotes Fairtrade and efforts to provide more sustainable and traceable supply chains within the jewellery industry.
Following on from our press events last year to promote Fairtrade Gold in the UK, I am delighted to have been asked to introduce the first Flux Conference to explore and debate issues of ‘fair luxury’.
This is an issue that is growing in importance within the jewellery and wider luxury world and will significantly impact all businesses. Conferences such as Flux are important to attend to ensure that jewellery companies can future-proof their own businesses and not be caught out when customers begin to ask about the provenance and ethics of the precious metals and stones they are selling.”
The one-day conference on April 19th will focus on pertinent topics including mining, sourcing and importing; jewellery design, production and manufacture, and retail, selling, marketing and PR. It will feature keynote speakers alongside workshops and networking opportunities.
Sarah Carpin will appear alongside speakers and participants from the Fairtrade Foundation, Alliance for Responsible Mining, and the GIA. Key speakers include Jack Cunningham, Group Sustainability Manager at Gemfields, and Orsola de Castro, co-founder of Fashion Revolution.
Tickets are priced at £40 and are available from the Goldsmiths’ Centre site: http://www.goldsmiths-centre.org/whats-on/public-events/flux-fair-luxury
