JQA Visits The Assay Office

It took two visits to accommodate all the members of the Jewellery Quarter Association who wished to visit the Birmingham Assay Office to see the finest collection of Birmingham Silver dating back to the 1700’s and to take a look around the Library.

The visits proved most interesting with some members requesting permission to re-visit the Library at a later date. A fascinating talk was given prior to the tour about the history of Hallmarking and this was followed by a ‘question and answer’ session.

Another successful evening arranged by Doug Timmis of the JQA and, of course, thanks to The Assay Master for allowing the visits to take place.

The Hockley Flyer magazine if entirely funded by the advertising, but we could always do with a little bit more funding. The advertising not only pays for the design/printing, but also postage, delivery, all the associated paperwork/accounts, and research for the Heritage section. Our subscribers pay only a bit more then the postage/mailing costs, and the magazines are free - no cover price.
