Key Hill Passageway to be Gated Off

The following notice has been posted in the Key Hill passageway that connects Hylton Street to Key Hill Drive to the effect that it is to be gated off, with keys only to tenants.

This passageway was originally part of a driveway to a large house at the top of Key Hill Drive and has been used for many years as a short cut to Key Hill and Hockley Hill, thereby avoiding a large detour around Vyse Street and Great Hampton Street for businesses, visitors, tourists and even postmen!

It is also a short cut between the Museum of The Jewellery Quarter and the entrance to Key Hill Cemetery – the wall on one side of Key Hill Drive is Grade II listed and was restored about 20 years ago.

If you use this passageway frequently and feel that it is inappropriate to gate it off, please comment…

The Hockley Flyer magazine is entirely funded by the advertising, but could do with a little bit more funding. The advertising not only pays for the design/printing, but also postage, delivery, all the associated paperwork/accounts, and research for the Heritage section. Subscribers pay only a bit more than the postage/mailing costs, and the magazines are free - no cover price.
