Local salon Blacc + Blond announced as green salon finalist

Based in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter, hairdressing salon Blacc + Blond, have been announced as finalists at this year’s Salon Business Awards in the Green Salon of the Year category.

Run by Salon Business Magazine, one of the hairdressing industries most established trade publications, the Salon Business Awards have been recognising hairdressing talent for eight years, encouraging hair experts from around the UK and even the international industry, with their international category Global Stylist, to enter their host of salon and individual categories.

To enter the Green Salon of the Year category, Blacc + Blond had to submit an online entry looking at how environmentally friendly the design of the salon is, the practises the salon has adopted and incorporated into their salon to be more eco-friendly, the staff initiatives the salon have in place to maintain eco standards in the salon and also that provided information on any environmentally-friendly focussed events that the salon has been involved in before being chosen as one of eight finalists by a team of highly respected industry judges for the Green Salon of the Year category.

Blacc + Blond will find out if they have won the category at the Salon Business Awards Grand Final on Monday 13th June at Quaglino’s in London, whereby all finalists will come together to find out their fate and to party the night away.

Anil Salhan, Owner of the Blacc + Blond salon, commented, “To win the Green Salon of the Year category at this year’s Salon Business Awards would be an incredible achievement. We launched our ‘green is the new blacc’ campaign on World Earth Day last year and since then, we have been continuously researching new avenues to become more environmentally friendly, with the aim to be one of the most sustainable hair salons in the UK.
Winning this award would show that our efforts truly have not gone unnoticed and would help us shout further about what we do, with the hope that many other salons and businesses will follow and do their part to make the world a better place.”
