Lockup Building Works (Steel House Lane police Museum)

As 2021 comes to an end, the Lock-up building works are progressing at pace and nearing completion!

The old roof has come off and the new one is nearing completion, some doorways have been widened to make them more accessible and our new stairwells are almost complete.

Some of the floors in the basement have been re-surfaced and the shop area has been re-plastered and is ready for decorating. The window in the charge area has opened up the view into the cell block and the trimmed down charge desk will allow for orientation of visitors in this space.

Throughout January all of the finishes will be completed, before we move the collection from Sparkhill and Creative Core begin installing all of the museum displays.

Lots still to do but very much counting down to re-opening. An exciting year lies ahead!

Also the Museum are looking for volunteers, for when it opens.
