The Company of Master Jewellers (CMJ) has approved Midlands-based independent retail jeweller GL Bicknell & Sons to join its expanding membership.
GL Bicknell & Sons is a second-generation family business based in Birmingham’s famous Jewellery Quarter. Established in 1979, it manufactures jewellery on site in its in-house workshop. The business specialises in certified diamonds and is the only retailer in Birmingham to offer the exclusive range of Phoenix Cut diamond jewellery.
The business has recently expanded by opening a second store, which focuses heavily on branded jewellery, in Worcester.
On his decision to apply to become a CMJ Retail Member, director Adam Bicknell said: “We wanted to join CMJ to give us the opportunity to meet other retailers in similar areas, as well as access to the group’s extensive range of current and upcoming brands.”
Following the announcement, CMJ chief executive Willie Hamilton said: “We are seeing more and more businesses recognising the benefits that CMJ can offer them, including the unique opportunity to be part of a nurturing community of leading retailers from across the UK and Ireland without losing any of their independence.”
The addition of GL Bicknell & Sons takes CMJ’s total number of retail members up to 165, with more than 400 doors across the UK and Ireland.
