Sutton Tools Celebrating 125 Years as a Family Business

In 1884 Victoria was on the throne, Gladstone was Prime Minister and local businessman Thomas Sutton was opening his tool shop in the heart of the Jewellery Quarter.

125 years later his great granddaughter, Maggie Nichols, is celebrating her company’s incredible achievement with a year of fun events and new initiatives to move the business into the future.

“Reaching 125 years as a family run business is an impressive landmark,” says Maggie. “We might be a long established company, but we have wonderful new ideas and the Suttons team is looking forward to some exciting launches this year.”

The first celebration is the introduction of a completely new Sutton Tools Catalogue. The Catalogue, which has long been an essential tool on the bookshelves and workbenches of the jewellery trade, has been completely redesigned using Suttons’ new corporate red colours in an interesting vibrant format.

It now has colour photographs, prices, more products, and new sections, including the successful Precious Metals range launched last year.”

“I am delighted with the new Catalogue,” continues Maggie. “It reflects our sharper image and is now more helpful to the trade, providing additional and clearer information as well as the all essential product prices!”

125th Year Celebrations
Throughout this historic year, Suttons will be inviting their customers to celebrate with them; for example each month the Company will be holding a special 125th promotion on essential workshop items. So keep reading the Hockley Flyer or visit to find out what savings you can make and look out for the Suttons’ newsletter.

February, the month of pancakes, will see some flipping good deals on Rotary tools and we spring into March with great savings on ring sizing equipment.

The Hockley Flyer magazine if entirely funded by the advertising, but we could always do with a little bit more funding. The advertising not only pays for the design/printing, but also postage, delivery, all the associated paperwork/accounts, and research for the Heritage section. Our subscribers pay only a bit more then the postage/mailing costs, and the magazines are free - no cover price.
