Assay Office Celebrates a Successful Spring Fair

The Birmingham Assay Office celebrated a very successful Spring Fair where for the first time it was able to show visitors the complete range of services that it provides to the jewellery industry.

The organisation has developed over recent years a complete portfolio of independent, innovative, user-friendly products and services for the jewellery, precious metal, and gemstone trade.

On show in particular this year was an innovative Hallmarking Guidance Notes booklet which has rapidly become a must have for all Hallmarking customers.

Other services highlighted included: the benefits of AnchorCert Independent Diamond Certification, the SafeGuard Independent Jewellery Valuation Service and the highly successful Quick Nickel test offered by The Laboratory.

Sales and Marketing Director Marion Wilson reported: “Many customers now use at least two or three of our services and it made sense for us to be able to answer all their queries from one stand.”

The show also saw the Preview of an exciting innovation from the SafeGuard Independent Jewellery Valuation Service.

The SafeGuard “Jewellery Assessment Report” has become an instant hit although it has yet to be officially launched.

The consumer friendly jewellery assessment report comprises an elegant black and silver folder containing an A5 silver and white assessment report which contains full colour photos of the jewellery piece, a detailed item description from an expert assessor including the quality of the stones, the precious metal and its hallmarks as well as a bespoke hologram to guarantee the authenticity of the report.

The report provides an independent source of reassurance to the consumer when making a jewellery purchase.

The Hockley Flyer magazine if entirely funded by the advertising, but we could always do with a little bit more funding. The advertising not only pays for the design/printing, but also postage, delivery, all the associated paperwork/accounts, and research for the Heritage section. Our subscribers pay only a bit more then the postage/mailing costs, and the magazines are free - no cover price.
