Chord Launches New Concept Apartments

Chord Homes has launched a new range of apartments at its St Paul’s Place development in the Jewellery Quarter. The developers’ ‘Plus’ apartments include studio apartments sized at 502 sq ft – larger than most one-bed city centre apartments.

What’s more, the outsize homes boast the Holy Grail of open plan living – additional storage space.

According to Geoff Shuttleworth, director of Chord, the studio and one-bed ‘Plus’ apartments are designed to meet the current craze for open plan living, without compromising on space.

He said: “Many people are enamoured with the idea of living in an open plan space but are often thrown off the idea when they come to consider the reality, such as ‘where do I store my suitcases?’ or ‘where can I stow my golf clubs?’”

“We’ve overcome this problem by providing a versatile bolt-hole within the ‘Plus’ apartments. These allow our residents to maintain the clean, minimalist lines demanded by open-plan living without having to divest themselves of all their worldly possessions!”

Chord’s ‘Plus’ apartments boast discrete storage areas of up to 36 sq ft. That’s large enough to accommodate a single bed; a walk-in wardrobe, which the developer will fit out; or even an office space – telephone and power points are included as standard. What’s more, Chord has also found a solution to overcome the other bane of open-plan living – noise from kitchen white goods.

Mr Shuttleworth said: “There’s nothing worse than listening to the washing machine droning away while you are watching your favourite soap or sports programme. So, we’ve put washer driers in an enclosed space, away from the living area, to minimise the sound.”

The developer will also provide sleek fitted wardrobes in all master bedroom areas. Bicycle storage is also available, free of charge, in the basement parking area.

Chord anticipates the apartments will be of interest to first time buyers, young professionals, and city workers looking for a ‘crash pad’ during the working week.”

There are 39 ‘Plus’ apartments available at St Paul’s Place, priced from £175,000 – £229,995.

The development, in St Paul’s Square, includes 168 apartments in total, set around two private internal courtyards. A range of studios and one-and two-bedroom apartments are available.

The properties are currently under construction and will be available for occupation from January 2008. Further information is available from the St Paul’s Place marketing suite at 14 St Paul’s Square, Tel: 0121 200 8099 and www.chordsaintpaulsplace.co.uk
