Damascena Brings the Middle East to The Jewellery Quarter

After recently winning Best Café/Bistro of the Year both regionally and nationally, at The Food Awards England 2019, Damascena opened the doors to their new Jewellery Quarter Store in the same week, on Thursday 17th October.

Since the announcement of the new location back in July, residents and visitors of The Jewellery Quarter have been eagerly awaiting its arrival. Fully kitted out with a new bar & kitchen, alongside a complete re-vamp of what was once a jewellery store, the place sparkles with joy!

Open and inviting interiors boast with Middle Eastern influence, with beautiful fabrics, furniture, light fixtures, and great craftsmanship completing the look of the little social hub.

Damascena is an Independent Coffee Shop well established in Birmingham. With three other stores in Moseley, Harborne and the City Centre, the heart of The Jewellery Quarter now has a treasured new addition.

Proudly serving up Middle Eastern food, it’s a must visit if you’re in the area! Business meeting or friendly catch-up, Damascena is the perfect host. Stop by for coffee made by knowledgeable baristas and enjoy your lunchbreak housed by beautiful décor. There is a reason they won Café/Bistro of the year TWICE in one night!

The Food Awards England
The 6th Food Awards England 2019 welcomed over 200 guests at The Mercure Manchester Piccadilly Hotel, on Monday October 14th, in a celebration of those who work hard to provide the UK with delicious dishes and unique experiences.

The awards recognise the achievements of local suppliers, chefs and restaurants that serve the community with the freshest of products and work tirelessly within their establishments to deliver great customer service to their diners.

The winners are a true reflection of the quality and excellence that remark the English food industry. The competition was fierce but Damascena proudly accepted the award for Café/Bistro of the Year regionally for the West Midlands, and Nationally. Bringing not one, but two trophies home to Birmingham!

Anas Zein, owner of Damascena said: “We’re delighted to have won these two awards and it feels great to know our thoughtful efforts are recognised across the country. We work hard to bring delicious food and traditional middle eastern flavours to the people of Birmingham, and we’re astounded by the response we’ve had to our dishes since opening in Moseley 2014.

“We thank our customers for making it possible to bring a new shop to The Jewellery Quarter as we couldn’t do it without their ongoing support!”

A Spokesperson for the Food Awards England 2019 said: “We would like to thank the public for making The Food Awards England the leading celebration of those who thrive in the country’s food sector. “The awards celebrated everything related to food and provided a platform to thank those who have dedicated their whole career in providing us with great gastronomic delights. They also showcased amazing professionals that take our taste buds around the world by serving from Mexican and Italian to Oriental and the best of the East.

“We would like to congratulate all winners and finalists for their amazing achievements.”
