Gettting ready for another year of The Hockley Flyer saw the distribution of December’s issue continue for what seemed like forever. Most of the copies were out before Christmas but the last few were held up by the holidays of course then heavy rain, snow, ice and on the last day – fire! Rain, Ice, Snow, and Fire – sounds more like Iceland, not the Jewellery Quarter!
Sounds dramatic but the last one did not really stop the magazine, but it was sad to see the lovely building which is grade 2 listed with fire leaping out a top floor window on various social media. The building in question was the site of former H B Sale, diesinkers and stampers in Constitution Hill featured back in May 2024 of The Hockley Flyer.
Today it is occupied by the Syriana restaurant on the ground floor which at the time of writing is still closed for safety reasons until further notice. See their Facebook page. Wishing them all the best and hope they will re-open soon.
Hoping the rest of 2026 is not quite so dramatic as January 2026!
