Matthew Boulton Bicentenary

Plans to celebrate the life of Matthew Boulton and the major contribution he made to Birmingham’s Industry continue.

The founder of The Birmingham Assay Office, Boulton died in 1809, and his bicentenary in 2009 will be marked by a full season of events.

The Birmingham Assay Office is part of a working group which recently submitted a bid on behalf of Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery for a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund in order to stage the celebrations.

The Hockley Flyer magazine is entirely funded by the advertising, but could do with a little bit more funding. The advertising not only pays for the design/printing, but also postage, delivery, all the associated paperwork/accounts, and research for the Heritage section. Subscribers pay only a bit more than the postage/mailing costs, and the magazines are free - no cover price.
