REVD. DAVID TOMLINSON

We are looking to raise £250,000 for our 250th year in 2029. We start with a church fete on the grounds of St Paul’s Church on Monday 30th August from 11.30-5.30 pm. There will music, dancing, live performances, as well as food and drink. There’ll be activities for children too. In the church, there will be three short organ recitals, and you can have a guided tour. This launch event of our fundraising campaign should be hugely enjoyable, as well as signalling a renewed vision for this historic church.

People come to St Paul’s to worship and pray, to be still and reflect, to enjoy music and laugh together, and to meet friends and celebrate. Without you, though, its future in in jeopardy. we need to make it watertight, and renew it for this and future generations. The vision is to restore its historic fabric, to update its meeting rooms and facilities, and to make it a superb venue for music, theatre, and the performing and decorative arts.

St Paul’s Church has been at the heart of the Jewellery Quarter since 1779. Over the years, it has many notable supporters, including Marie Haddleton whose encouragement and knowledge I appreciated, especially in my first few months in post.

Now as the church approaches its 250th birthday in 2029, you can help by coming to the fete, and inviting your friends and neighbours to come too. Without you, the financial challenge ahead of us looks daunting. With your support, the future of the historic and beautiful St Paul’s church at the heart of our community is bright. Thank you.

With love and prayers,
David
The Revd. David Tomlinson, Vicar.

The Hockley Flyer magazine if entirely funded by the advertising, but we could always do with a little bit more funding. The advertising not only pays for the design/printing, but also postage, delivery, all the associated paperwork/accounts, and research for the Heritage section. Our subscribers pay only a bit more then the postage/mailing costs, and the magazines are free - no cover price.
