Steelhouse Lane Lockup Latest

Photos which showcase some of the building works and include:

An old doorway leading from the main entrance through a secondary charge area is opened up.

This space was most recently used as interview rooms, but has now all been cleared

Partitions removed from landings, increasing visibility, and opening up the space ready for iron railings to be reinstated.

Former locker room on top floor has been cleared. This area was previously used as a photography studio and crime lab and before that was originally 4 cells at the far end of the 1st floor.

Trios are doing the building works and we have appointed Creative Core to do the museum designs, and we always need to credit the Heritage Lottery Fund for the £1.1m grant and thank lottery players for their support.

The Hockley Flyer magazine if entirely funded by the advertising, but we could always do with a little bit more funding. The advertising not only pays for the design/printing, but also postage, delivery, all the associated paperwork/accounts, and research for the Heritage section. Our subscribers pay only a bit more then the postage/mailing costs, and the magazines are free - no cover price.
