Walsh’s 60th Anniversary

In May of this year H S Walsh and Sons Limited celebrated 60 years of trade. Chairman Desmond Walsh started out in the jewellery business selling watch and clock spares and fitting watch glasses in the open-air markets of South East London with his father and over the years has built the business up to become the UK’s leading supplier of tools, materials, services and equipment to the jewellery, silversmithing and horological trades.

“This seems like an enormous journey!” says Desmond, “However, the evidence is all around me with our branches in London and Birmingham and the sounds of students on our training courses doing jewellery repairs at our Beckenham workshop.”

“After fifty five years of working in the same business, I still find each day brings its surprises and challenges. Perhaps it is the special appeal of a business where the creative skill, knowledge and perseverance of our customers continue to amaze me and hold my attention, as it did my father when he started H S Walsh and Sons Limited 60 years ago.”

Throughout 2007 there is a free commemorative mug for everyone who spends more than £100 in one transaction and every customer who places any order during the year will get a handy key ring ‘mini’ screwdriver – ideal for spectacle repairs and all those other fiddly little jobs!

“I know I speak for all of the Walsh team when I say a big `thank you’ to all our customers, suppliers and contacts for the support and encouragement they have always given us.”
