This year marked the tenth anniversary of Charles Green’s ‘live project’ at the School of Jewellery in Birmingham.
The students from the ‘Design for Industry’ course participated in a special competition with the winner being awarded the chance to see their design made in precious metal and exhibited alongside the rest of Charles Green’s Wonders Collection.
Judged by the design team at Charles Green, the DFI course tutors and Tom Green (Chairman of Charles Green), the work featured various precious stones, diamond cuts and innovative design.
Although all pieces were impressive it was down to the judges to pick a winner and this year the prize went to Ruth Hallows.
Her piece showed excellent CAD understanding and was a bold, classic design. Ruth wins a week’s work experience in the design department at Charles Green, along with a cash prize. During Ruth’s week at Charles Green, she will help to overseeing the manufacture of her ring in precious metal and set.
Tom Green said ‘’although I was impressed with many of the students work, Ruth’s design shone through as it complimented the gem well as well as being a design I would be proud to add to Charles Green’s wonders collection’’
2nd prize went to Wing Ting Leung, and 3rd prize was awarded to Sarah Parry.
