Cookson Customer News

Cookson Precious Metals customer Rhiannon recently purchased a quantity of Silver, 18ct White and 18ct Red Sheet to be worked in to a high quality piece of Jewellery to be given to the new Archbishop of Canterbury as a gift from the people of Wales.

The inspiration for the piece comes from Merlin’s prophecy, the red dragon represents the Britons, battling against the white dragon of the Saxons. In the piece the two dragons are made of White Gold and Red Gold symbolising the Dragons of the prophecy.

The intended symbolism is for them to be clasping hands in peace above the Canterbury Cross representing the move of Rowan Williams from being Archbishop of Wales to Archbishop of Canterbury. The Centre of the Cross is a Piece of Welsh Gold stamped with the Rhiannon Welsh Gold mark and the background is Sterling Silver.

The Hockley Flyer magazine is entirely funded by the advertising, but could do with a little bit more funding. The advertising not only pays for the design/printing, but also postage, delivery, all the associated paperwork/accounts, and research for the Heritage section. Subscribers pay only a bit more than the postage/mailing costs, and the magazines are free - no cover price.
