The Edinburgh Assay Office, which closed its doors on the 24th March in response to the Covid-19 Health crisis, will re-open from Tuesday the 28th April.
For the last 2 weeks the Assay Office has been working internally to modify their hallmarking process and their building layout in order to meet the Government’s guidance on social distancing in the workplace.
After a successful weeklong closed-door trial with volunteer staff, the office will resume a hallmarking service from Tuesday the 28th April.
The office will be open daily for deliveries by courier and post from 8.30am until 2.00pm and will receive goods from customers directly over the counter only by prior appointment.
Customers wishing to visit the Assay office are advised to contact the Office in advance.
Scott Walter, Assay Master and CEO said: “I’m extremely proud of our team of volunteers who have worked so hard to help us return to an operational state and I look forward to building on our initial service as we go forward.
I am grateful to all of our customers for their patience and their understanding during these difficult times.
I know they are all facing the same problems we are, and I hope that our return to an operational service, all be it a limited one, will help support them.”
