Leading jewellery designer Fei Liu will once again be sharing his expertise with the young design talent of Birmingham’s Design Space incubation scheme this month.
Liu will be giving a talk for the young designer-makers after the success of his free workshop with last year’s students in July 2011.
Along with providing invaluable insight on how to launch and run a successful jewellery business, Liu will be speaking about his own experiences in the jewellery industry and how they have impacted his career.
Shortlisted for Jewellery Designer of the Year at this year’s UK Jewellery Awards, Fei Liu has established himself as a leading designer both in the UK and abroad. Having trained at Birmingham’s prestigious School of Jewellery and now based within the heart of the city’s Jewellery Quarter, Liu is keen to establish links with fresh design talent in the jewellery industry and to promote the continuing trade of this historic region.
Design Space is publicly funded by the European Regional Development Fund and Birmingham City Council, providing free workshop space and business support for up to 20 designer-makers under the Support for Business strategy.
The scheme aims to support and incubate young design talent over a 12 month period, after which the jewellers can confidently become self-employed and launch their businesses.
