RBSA Craft Gallery ‘Journey’ 21 May – 14 July

With travel as its theme, this exhibition will take you around the world. All of the featured artists take inspiration for their work from their diverse backgrounds and travel experiences.

The work of some of Britain’s leading designer makers will be on display, which will include jewellery, studio ceramics and textiles.

Ceramicist Rachel Holian produces beautifully decorated ceramic tableware drawing ideas from all corners of the earth. Her inspiration comes from oriental ceramics, particularly the philosophies and aesthetics of the Tea Ceremony and Oribe ware.

Jewellery to be featured in Journey includes the work of Cathrine Bysheim. Her designs reflect the wild and seasonal changes of the rich Scandinavian landscape.

Highly decorative ceramics courtesy of Sylvie Fuller will be showcased in Journey. Her ‘Lillibule’ range of ceramics are produced from hand printed bone china. This unusual decorative method enables her to explore her love of travel, colour and decoration. This, combined with a very feminine boudoir style and English quirkiness juxtaposed with her interest in Japanese art, results in an extremely desirable and unique collection of ceramics.

The Hockley Flyer magazine if entirely funded by the advertising, but we could always do with a little bit more funding. The advertising not only pays for the design/printing, but also postage, delivery, all the associated paperwork/accounts, and research for the Heritage section. Our subscribers pay only a bit more then the postage/mailing costs, and the magazines are free - no cover price.
