Silversmith’s Charity Cycle Ride

Plotting a route north are two employees of manufacturing silversmiths L.J. Millington.

Paul Toland and David Turvey will set off with six other friends on March 27th in an attempt to cycle from Land’s End to John O’Groats.

They hope to complete the 1017 mile unsupported ride on Friday 9th April. Over the last four months Paul and David have planned and trained for this charity ride by cycling over 120 miles per week.

Paul commented: “We both see this as a great challenge but also as a great opportunity to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support and the Alzheimer’s Society, The whole of the challenge is self funded so every penny plus Gordon’s Gift Aid will go to these needy causes.”

Any contributions however small will be gratefully received. Special thanks go to Cooksons Trade Counter and The Assay Office who have kindly agreed to hold sponsorship forms for pledges.

Donations can also be made online by logging onto www.justgiving.com then click on ‘sponsor a friend’ and search for either David Turvey or Paul Toland, or contact Paul on 07719 769128

The Hockley Flyer magazine if entirely funded by the advertising, but we could always do with a little bit more funding. The advertising not only pays for the design/printing, but also postage, delivery, all the associated paperwork/accounts, and research for the Heritage section. Our subscribers pay only a bit more then the postage/mailing costs, and the magazines are free - no cover price.
