At the invitation of Birmingham Trading Standards, The Birmingham Assay Office will provide a shop front window display in the Birmingham Consumer Centre during the run up to Christmas. The display will explain to Birmingham shoppers what to look for when making a purchase of precious metal jewellery.
The Birmingham Assay Office is more than delighted to oblige and will set up an easy to read and understand illuminated graphics display highlighting the role of the hallmark as a form of consumer protection as well as explaining the compulsory and optional marks that can be found on gold, silver and platinum pieces.
Birmingham Consumer Centre is a working partnership between Trading Standards and the Citizens Advice Bureau providing advice and assistance to Birmingham residents and traders.
The Consumer Centre gives free help and assistance to members of the public with consumer related enquiries, advising on consumer rights and what action can be taken if a dispute remains unresolved.
The Centre provides access to Trading Standards services if it appears that Trading Standards laws may have been broken.
