This year, Assay Office Birmingham has chosen to send Christmas cards via e-mail, in line with our commitment to be more environmentally friendly.
The money previously spent on designing, printing and posting traditional Christmas cards has instead been donated to our chosen charity for this year which is The Midlands Air Ambulance Charity.
The Midlands Air Ambulance Charity is a life saving organisation with an incredible team of hard working people behind it, who have a passion for saving lives and a dedication to keeping families together.
It covers six Midlands counties, mainly delivering severely ill or injured patients to three major regional trauma centres, the Queen Elizabeth, Childrens’, North Staffs, and Walsgrave hospitals.
The Charity receives no government funding and relies entirely upon voluntary funding. It needs to raise a massive £6.5m to provide the vital equipment and expert staff required to service the 2,000 calls which are referred to the Air Ambulance every year. Air Ambulance are called in to assist with severe incidents where rapid response is crucial and transfer to the appropriate specialist trauma centre can mean the difference between life or death.
Adam Williams, who is the Midlands Regional Fundraising Manager at The Air Ambulance Service, accepted the cheque presented by Chief Executive and Assay Master Stella Layton.
He said “We rely totally on people and businesses like you to employ our elite team of life saving paramedics and continue our work. A massive thank you to Assay Office Birmingham for this very generous donation.
