Artifex Gallery in Sutton Coldfield is a gallery for contemporary British Arts and Crafts, and directors, Nigel Bates and Ross Fenn, are continuing to continue their support for the British jewellery industry with the Artifex Young Jewellery Designer Awards 2013; a concept they felt was important in keeping the industry exciting and in helping young jewellery designers to gain exposure.
The Artifex Young Jewellery Designer Awards is open to young jewellery designers from or studying in the West Midlands and aged between 18 and 25, to bring their vision of a winning jewellery piece to life as well as to showcase their talent. All entries will be exhibited at the Artifex Gallery throughout the competition.
The winning piece of jewellery will win its young jewellery designer a £250 cash prize and a one month display in the gallery following the awards ceremony, where it will be exhibited for sale. Runners up will each receive a £100 cash prize.
The competition has now been launched and all applicants must design and produce their jewellery pieces which they will enter into different categories. A panel of judges made up of Artifex directors, a member of the press, a jeweller and a jewellery trader, will select a winner from each category as well as an overall winner.
