Betts Group Appoints Peter Green

Betts Group, the UK’s oldest surviving precious metal refining and dealing business, has strengthened its national business development team with a new senior appointment. Peter Green, who has more than four decades of industry experience, has joined the family-run firm as business development manager with responsibility for the expansion of the Group’s wedding rings business and sales of its responsibly sourced bullion and investment products.

He will work with new and existing customers to showcase Betts’ comprehensive stock of British-made wedding rings, which are all manufactured using responsibly sourced Single Mine Origin (SMO) certified gold. Peter joins Betts from Baird and Co. in Hatton Garden, where he has managed the company’s wedding rings, industrial and bullion product departments for the last 16 years.

He previously spent almost twenty years in management with gold bullion dealer, J Blundell & Sons, having begun his career with famous watchmakers, Benford O’Shea in the 1980s.

Peter has led the delivery of several well-known and unusual campaigns, including Cadbury’s Unwrap Gold promotion, which saw eight chocolate bars sculpted in 18ct gold to mark the 10-year anniversary of Birmingham’s Bullring.

Peter Green said: “I’m thrilled to join such a well-known and respected family business. I have been in the trade for a considerable time and having come from a production background, I know that there are very few refiners who can offer what Betts can. I look forward to supporting the company in generating interest in its comprehensive range of SMO wedding rings, bullion and investment products.”

Betts Group managing director, Charlie Betts, said: “We’re pleased to have appointed someone of Peter’s vast experience during an exciting period for our business. Our core ethos of integrity and quality of service, and our focus on precious metal expertise remain the cornerstones of the Group and Peter perfectly embodies our approach. He will play a key role in helping us to develop our wedding rings sales, where we believe we have a compelling story to tell.

All of our rings are CNC engineered and made using SMO gold, making them the highest quality and most responsibly sourced products of their kind on the market.”
