Brian Jones, the founder of The Pen Room has been awarded the MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List.
Anyone who has not visited The Pen Room should do so, especially if they have children, as it is most unusual and fascinating.
Not many people realise that at one time more pen nibs were made in the Quarter than jewellery!
Brian has worked hard for his MBE and it took a long time for The Pen Room to be included in the lists of museums etc.
This follows on from the Museum of The Jewellery Quarter being voted the third best free heritage site in Europe and of course we have the JW Evans’ Silver Museum in the pipeline!
