In this issue is a story about an online survey, please complete if you have anything to do with the manufacture of Jewellery and other associated trades. So far, the people doing the survey have let us know they had a good early response to the survey, but it would be great to get more and verify the data further and perhaps understand the jewellery manufacturing inter cluster differences more clearly.
It is very much in line with the findings of the 2016 survey in terms of skills shortages across the board and especially in the individual skilled hand and bench areas.
Those skill shortages must be even worse now as Covid has made many people stop and think about their lives, welfare, and ambitions and some have gone a step further with a career change or set up their own business. In America it is estimated some 30 million people have left good employment following the pandemic to follow their dreams.
