Cantoras Upper Voices Chamber Choir: Stabat Mater

Birmingham based upper voices choir Cantoras (est 2022) will be performing at St Paul’s Church on Friday 13th March at 7:30pm.

Cantoras, lead by world renowned Argentinian conductor Mariana Rosas, will be contributing to our Lent reflections with a thought-provoking programme of choral music. In particular, Kim Andre Arnesen’s new setting of the ‘Stabat Mater’ tells of Mary’s sorrow at the crucifixion of her son Jesus. Performed with organ and ensemble, this regional premiere of this work promises to be very moving.

In addition, the choir will sing Sarah Quartel’s ‘Sanctum’ written for upper voices – a challenging and beautiful piece of unaccompanied singing.
