‘November 2019 marks the end of an era as Marion Wilson is leaving the Birmingham Assay Office. In her 19 plus years with the business Marion has undertaken many roles and has always conducted herself with the utmost professionalism and total commitment to the office.
In 2015 Marion accepted the role of Academy Director as we endeavoured to build a new commercial enterprise out of some organic business opportunities.
This role combined aspects of Heritage, Education and managing tenants in our new facility. Sadly, as part of a larger management restructure this role has now been removed, bringing about the departure of Marion by mutual consent.
There is no doubt that we will miss the ‘Oracle, Marion’s depth of knowledge across Hallmarking and the history of the office is unparalleled. Her work ethic and commitment to the office, its heritage, the jewellery trade and hallmarking in general is legendary.
She remains a font of knowledge, has a wealth of experience and remains as determined as ever to protect and promote the trade.
We are certain that we have not seen the last of Marion. She remains a champion and excellent ambassador both of this office and of hallmarking. Whatever she decides to do in the future we wish her much success and thank her sincerely for her service and total dedication to the Birmingham Assay Office and to the industry’.
