The Women’s Jewellery Network has announced a new appointment to its senior directorate team, with the addition of diamond industry strategic and communications expert Ya’akov Almor, who joins the trade organisation as Business Development Director, this International Men’s Day.
Commenting on the appointment, Managing Director Victoria McKay said: “We are really excited to be announcing the addition of Ya’akov to our senior team. Ya’akov is highly respected, within the diamond sector and beyond, and I’m especially pleased to be making this announcement on International Men’s Day.
We have always had an inclusive strategic vision and we appreciate that this news is noteworthy in that we have appointed a man; it’s also significant in terms of understanding more about our aspirations for our global operation and strategy.”
Almor has an impressive career portfolio, including previous senior roles within the Israel Museum, the International Diamond Publications, Israel Precious Stones and Diamond Exchange, the Israel Emerald Cutters Association, Colgem, the World Diamond Council, the World Jewellery Conference, and the World Federation of Diamond Bourses.
Ya’akov is also the Director of Communications of the Moscow Diamond Bourse, the International Diamond Manufacturers’ Association, the Diamond and Importers’ Association of America, the International Diamond Council, and the World Diamond Museum. Ya’akov is a qualified gemmologist and Editor-In-Chief of the World Diamond Magazine and editorial consultant for JTR’s World of Jewellery magazine.
Commenting on his appointment, Almor said: “I am very pleased to be joining the Women’s Jewellery Network team. I have watched their progress with great interest. Under Victoria’s leadership, this organisation has already punched far above its weight.
I am looking forward to working with the team, utilising my specialist knowledge, experience, and contacts, to support them in further distilling the vision and creating impact, in levelling the playing fields for women across the jewellery industry globally. Launching my appointment on International Men’s Day was a deliberate and significant choice for us all. IMD is all about recognising the positive value men contribute to the world, their families and to their communities.
I’m honoured to be joining a team that values the difference in us all and seeks to highlight positive role models of all genders. The IMD 2019 theme is ‘making a difference for men and boys’. A theme which the WJN vision absolutely supports, as positive changes for women are positive impacts for us all.”
Ya’akov joins the WJN leadership team of Managing Director Victoria McKay, Research & Insights Director Kathryn Bishop and Communications Director, Nyasha Pitt effective immediately. WJN also confirmed the appointment of more than 40 Ambassadors globally in August.
