The Birmingham Assay Office is pleased to announce that the British Hallmarking Council has authorised the opening of a Sub-Office at Hockley Mint, located in Warstone Lane, right in the heart of Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter.
The Birmingham Assay Office is always keen to respond to the changing demands of the market and improve customer service. This latest advance is the opening of a “Sub-Office” hallmarking facility for Hockley Mint.
A Sub-Office is effectively the extension of an Assay Office to other premises, typically within a manufacturers or importers premises.
There are obvious benefits for larger operations, and in line with the continuing redevelopment of the Hockley Mint building a brand new space for the Sub-Office will be created at the heart of the custom built production facility.
The Sub Office, which is a satellite of the Central Office in Birmingham, will be staffed by employees of The Birmingham Assay Office and will be in operation from early June.
Gary Wroe, Managing Director of Hockley Mint stated “We will be able to offer an improved service to our customers by decreasing the movement of metal, and making a significant time and quality improvement to our processes.
With the addition of a sub-office Hockley Mint will be able to further improve their operations and work more efficiently, for the good of its customers.”
Michael Allchin, Chief Executive of The Birmingham Assay Office said “We are pleased to be able to respond positively to Hockley Mint’s request for a Sub-Office. The Birmingham Assay Office is keen to support UK jewellery manufacturers and enable them to give their customers the fast, high quality service they require. The new facility will be commissioned as soon as possible and we know that Hockley Mint will find it very beneficial to their business.
