The Coffin Works – Fleet Street Coronavirus – Safety Changes – Planning to reopen on 30th October

It has been necessary to carry out some changes at the Coffin Works, but it is hoped that visitors new and old will enjoy a new way of visiting this wonderful Birmingham time capsule!

Visits to the museum will now be on a one-way system and self-guided – but do not worry we will have our trusty award-winning tours guides available on every floor.

The Museum states: ‘We now have 2 exciting new additions to our museum; our working historic polishing barrels have recently been bought back to life with thanks to generous members of the public. We also have a brilliant new shroud exhibition ‘Dead Fashionable’.

We have adhered to all the government guidance on keeping our visitors, volunteers, and staff safe and still providing a brilliant visit and we will be asking all visitors to wear a mask.

We also ask if you could bring some headphones for your mobile so you can take advantage of our self-guided tour on your phone (do not worry we can provide headphones if you do not bring them).

Please bring your printed ticket or be ready to show an electronic copy upon arrival. Wearing of a mask is mandatory.’

The Hockley Flyer magazine if entirely funded by the advertising, but we could always do with a little bit more funding. The advertising not only pays for the design/printing, but also postage, delivery, all the associated paperwork/accounts, and research for the Heritage section. Our subscribers pay only a bit more then the postage/mailing costs, and the magazines are free - no cover price.
