The Jewellery Quarter Heritage Magazine OUT NOW

Published quarterly we capture the history and atmosphere of the developing Jewellery Quarter in print for future generations, as well as todays! Plus finding out some amazing facts and stories, some never told before!

That is the intention anyway. This has been a long time coming, having started the project several times and then putting it on hold again and again.
“One of the more recent problems is I didn’t like the design, so scrapped it and started again,” says the publisher Mark Haddleton, “also copyright is becoming more confusing, and had to pull several items from this first issue until we secure the necessary permissions to publish.”

Marie Haddleton says “We have plenty to be going on with for at least another 7 issues – so much information has come to light since our two History and Guidebooks were published means we could never really cover everything in one book – it would be over 1000 pages at least, so here is the first of what will be at least three more quarterly issues this year, and probably well beyond that!

This first issue starts at the beginnings of Hockley and many of the early historical events that shaped the current Jewellery Quarter, plus a lot of other features and news from way back.

We have also included some modern refurbishment and restoration news that is making the Jewellery Quarter an extremely popular place to be, maybe even a bit too popular when it comes to housing but pleased there are still many schemes in the pipeline to help small and one-man businesses start up here, which this area is famous for.”

Future issues will again carry on in the same way, with a little more on the current restoration scene, and plenty of ‘then and now’ photos.
ALSO lots more old company profiles and histories on the characters of the area, listed building features, and a whole lot more.
