AnchorCert Academy to Host 2nd Event

The Women’s Jewellery Network, the UK’s only dedicated organisation supporting women in the UK jewellery industry, has announced a second social event to mark International Women’s Day 2018, to be held at the AnchorCert Academy at Assay Office Birmingham in the Jewellery Quarter.

Taking place on March 8th, 2018, the evening event is open to women and men working in the jewellery industry, offering networking and inspiring and insightful talks with leading lights and emerging talent from the jewellery industry.

Kicking off at 5.30pm, guests will be welcomed by AnchorCert Academy Director Marion Wilson and WJN Midlands Ambassador Nyasha Pitt.

Promising to share sage advice, Stella Layton MBA, the UK’s first female Assay Master and former Cookson Precious Metals CEO, is the evening’s keynote speaker, supported by The CMJ’s Executive Director of Business Development and Marketing, Lucy Reece-Raybould, who will ask the questions ‘NoGlassCeiling?’

A lively panel discussion will follow, led by Professor Marylyn Carrigan, formerly of the Centre for Business in Society (CBiS) at Coventry University, now Director of Research at Keele Management School. Marylyn will pose the question: What changes need to be made and what progress can the WJN and the industry make to improve equality in the sector?

Marylyn will be joined by Professional Jeweller editor Stacey Hailes, jewellery industry consultant Michael Donaldson and emerging jewellery talent and 2017 Kickstarter and GC&DC Award winner Farrah Al-Dujaili, alongside Stella Layton and Lucy Reece-Raybould.

Culminating in an audience Q&A, the evening will mark the first in a series of exciting WJN events for the Midlands, overseen by its UK Ambassador network.

The Midlands WJN International Women’s Day Event will take place on March 8th 2018 at AnchorCert Academy, Birmingham B1 3AS.

Tickets are priced at £10 per person, on sale from January 30th via EventBrite, with all proceeds donated to women’s charity Smart Works, based in Birmingham.
