IJL to Host Charity Auction at the First Ever Late Night Shopping Evening

A unique, specially designed charm bracelet is to star in an exclusive charity auction to be held by IJL, in conjunction with The British Jewellers’ Association, as one of the key highlights of the first ever Late Night Shopping Evening on the first day of the show (August 31st 2014).

This inaugural event, celebrating IJL’s first show at Olympia Grand, promises to attract style savvy jewellery buyers who will be guaranteed a fun evening out with complimentary drinks, live music, and front row seats at The Red Carpet Runway.

In aid of Breast Cancer Care, IJL have invited exhibitors to donate one-off designs – or yet to be launched pieces of jewellery – for the auction. Amongst the offerings will be the hand-crafted charm bracelet, featuring designer charms created by high profile designers such as Sarah Jordan, Shaun Leane, Tomasz Donocik, Andrew Goeghegan, Linda MacDonald, and Alexander Davis. The charm bracelet itself – designed by Sarah Jordan – will be cast by Birmingham manufacturer, Hockley Mint.

The auction, hosted by David Doyle, President of the British Jewellery Giftware and Finishing Federation (BJGF Federation), will also feature a ‘wish list’ of collectable pieces.

Sam Willoughby, IJL Event Director, stated: “This late night shopping event will add glamour and glitz to the retailers pre-season Christmas shopping. They will be rewarded with lots of ‘one night only’ offers and exhibitor exclusives, as well has having the chance to invest in a great cause, and maybe cast a winning bid in the charity auction. It will definitely be a night to remember!”

CEO of the BJA, Simon Rainer added, “We are delighted to be involved in this exciting project. It will showcase some of the leading designers in the industry and provide a real focal point to the first day of the show in its new venue.”

Award winning designer and BJA National Committee member, Sarah Jordan, commented: “I am delighted to be involved in this innovative designer collaboration with the BJA to raise funds for a charity that is very close to my heart. With the auction happening during the late night shopping event, I am sure it will greatly increase the buzz and atmosphere of what promises to be a really memorable date in the jewellery calendar.”

The event, which will run between 5.00 pm and 7.00 pm with the auction taking place on the Runway. This will be followed by the Red Carpet Runway showcasing dazzling evening wear pieces.
